The American Bison, also commonly known as the American Buffalo, is a North American species of bison that once roamed the grasslands of North America in massive herds. Their range once roughly comprised a triangle between the Great Bear Lake in Canada's far northwest, south to the Mexican states of Durango and Nuevo León, and east along the western boundary of the Appalachian Mountains. "

The mission of the NW Bison Association is to bring together bison breeders in the northwest to celebrate the heritage of, and to help educate others about the American Bison/Buffalo.

The 2018 Annual Meeting information is now up on the News page.

"Have you Herd"

We are at a important crossroads for are association. I believe and actively support us maintaining our regional localized association for many reasons, and I want to reach out to all are members to stay involved, and be engaged in all things bison. It is important to stay in tune with what is going on in are industry from all fronts, and to realize the importance of what we as a group can do for one another. Maintaining a good localized group of producers is valuable not only from a networking perspective, it is also important to appreciate the strength of numbers when problems come up, be it a local health issue, or a legislative concern that could adversely affect are industry.
